Our retail team
Maximising engagement, growth and standards adoption in retail
Our retail team is responsible for ensuring we have the right approach and programmes in place. They promote growth and standards adoption through engagement and collaboration with a broad base of industry stakeholders, including trade associations, key industry commentators, solution providers and different member businesses, ensuring that we are responding to trends and focusing our activities on industry priorities.
The team keeps a keen eye on GS1’s global activities too, and often gets groups from industry together to collaborate on common challenges.
Head of Retail
I’m Head of Retail at GS1 UK and responsible for the Retail Engagement team who support the industry collaborating on a number of initiatives that are supported by our standards. We cover Grocery, Apparel, General Merchandise and Food Wholesale.
The Retail team also facilitate our Retail Grocery and Apparel Advisory boards and key strategic data projects like productDNA:hub which is transforming product data for today’s consumer. Working with the boards has allowed us to collaborate with many industry and governmental bodies to support the health and well-being agenda for the UK.
Prior to GS1 UK I worked for Tesco for over 25 years in a number of Logistics, Retail and Commercial roles. The last 10 years at Tesco I was based in Poland and the Czech Republic where I was developing the supply chain and integrating businesses acquired across Central Europe where I worked closely with the local GS1 organisations. My early career was in a number of Distribution roles with United Biscuits.
Interests are my 2 daughters a love of motorcycles and travel, together if possible and when it’s cold heading off to the slopes to ski.
Market Development Manager – Apparel
I joined GS1 UK in May 2015 to implement the strategy for our apparel sector by increasing awareness, driving standards adoption and ensuring our standards are aligned with the needs of industry.
Coming from a fashion retail background, I have 8 years’ experience across product development, sourcing, buying and merchandising. Working for Zalando’s Australian sister company – The Iconic – I assisted in launching two new departments before managing the department store concessions, licensed boutiques and travel retail accounts for Fossil Group.
After I relocated to the UK, my varied fashion experience led me to a role as a Retail Management Consultant before joining GS1 UK.
I’m originally from Sydney but have been happy to call London home these last few years.

Industry Engagement Manager – Grocery
joined GS1 UK in March 2014 and am responsible for developing closer, collaborative relationships with the key grocery brands. My focus is on understanding the needs of this sector and using the insight to propose where GS1 standards and solutions can add value right through to the consumer.
Before joining GS1 UK, I was with Best Buy, the US electronics retailer managing direct sourced product into Europe from Asia. The majority of my career has been with Sainsbury’s in a variety of supply chain roles covering domestic logistics and global imports.
Engagement Manager – Grocery Retail
I’m Retail Grocery Engagement Manager for GS1 UK. I joined GS1 UK in 2010 as part of the member support team. My role within the grocery team is to develop strategic partnerships, understanding our members businesses and how the adoption of GS1 standards can support them trade more effectively. A key aspect of my role is developing the account management strategy for retail that allows us to deepen our engagement with members.
Before joining GS1 UK, I worked in customer support for the GE Sensing French division. I’m proud of having been promoted from our on-boarding team and utilising that experience when I meet and engage with members.
Interests are playing the violin and viola, watching French and Asian films and ticking off the countries I want to visit.
Retail and Wholesale Engagement Manager – Grocery
I joined GS1 UK in January 2018 and am responsible for building collaborative relationships with retailers and wholesalers, with the aim of ensuring our standards are aligned with the needs of industry whilst adding value to our members by increasing awareness and encouraging standards adoption.
I have worked within the retail industry for over 25 years, specialising in Merchandising & space planning for Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Godiva Chocolatier and Groupon among others. I also have a love for Ecommerce which led me to leading the project to launch ecommerce in the UK for Godiva in 2014.
My interests include running (slowly) and travelling, combining the two wherever possible.
Engagement Manager - Retail
I joined GS1 UK in December 2018 and I am responsible for building collaborative relationships with retailers, with the aim of ensuring our standards are aligned with the needs of industry whilst adding value to our members by increasing awareness and encouraging standards adoption.
I have 8 years of retail experience working for the John Lewis Partnership and Selfridges. Having enjoyed working as a retail manager for five years, my passion for improving the way retail works led me to hold engagement positions on transformation projects across HR, Supply Chain and Customer Experience.
My interests include running, baking (a winning combination) and studying wine.
