Learn the benefits our GS1 standards are providing for the NHS
The Healthcare User Group (HUG) is made up of invited senior representatives from healthcare trade associations, providers, suppliers, solution and service companies, and other related organisations.
The purpose of the HUG:
To promote the adoption of GS1 standards throughout the NHS, its suppliers and partners in line with the NHS Code of conduct for data-driven health and care technologies*, NHS digital data and technology standards, Government Digital Services Technology Code of Practice and the NHS eProcurement Strategy.
Adoption of the standards also supports adherence to the requirements of Medical and Invitro Diagnostic device regulations (MDR and IVDR) as well as Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) in the verification and tracking of Unique Device Identification (UDI).
*this will be changed to the Digital Healthcare Technology standard once released
The group is chaired by Ian Townend, lead architect – standards and interoperability at NHSX.
